I labelled Steve's "dream date" a con-girl because that's exactly what she was. She behaved like a freelancer but denied being one. I would argue that freelancers who claim not to be freelancers are, by definition, con-artists.

In your previous comment, you suggested that she wasn't a con-girl and that there were "plenty of other explanations." However, you suggested only two.

The more plausible of these was that she was a freelancer - but we already know that she denied this.

Your other suggestion was rather amusing. I've often been approached by Thai women in public places but never once by "a slightly lonely 28 year old woman who likes farang and is looking for a bit of companionship or more." - unless "more" is a euphemism for cash.

If you insist on taking these over-friendly women at face value, then I wish you luck. The first shag might be free but I'm fairly certain that you will end up paying the price.

It wasn't so much that I doubted a rich Chinese-Thai girl could have ulterior motives similar to her less fortunate counterparts, when the subject is farang marriage; however, my question leaned more towards the behavioral manifestation of those motives.

In otherwords, a rich Thai girl may WANT to fool a U.S. man into marrying her just to get away from her demanding, overly strict family & get to U.S. for an easy life/greater opportunities; however, the way she would go about achieving that objective, I suspect, would be different from the garden variety lower middle class girl, freelancer/con-girl or not, no?

For instance, the rich TG might well go trolling AmericanSingles.com for an American man to shag in a hotel room/marry, but I doubt seriously a truly well bred rich Bkk TG, who claims to have been from a "prominent" family, would have been willing to be seen picking him up ALONE at Don Muang, or walking w/him all over Bkk, especially the Sukunvit Area, for fear of one of her friends/family spotting her, no?

A lower class, or lower mid-class TG might be concerned about being seen escorting Mark all over Bkk, but not nearly as much as a well-bred rich girl. In fact, I would surmize that any true rich TG, disturbed or otherwise, would have been too concerned about face loss to be caught dead walking around w/an old farang her father's age to the point of avoiding it completely--but Nok did it often, on all 3 of Mark's trips to Bkk. She just never allowed him to meet any of her family/friends.

Secondly, would even a disturbed rich girl have been stupid enough to marry a farang she'd only known for a couple of wks? What kind of a true rich TG would have found herself in such a mess, that she had to that, to begin with? The rich TGs are generally very good, don't stray & certainly DO NOT DISRESPECT their fathers, no?

Finally, perhaps the only explanation for Nok's behavior is that she's the illegitimate daughter of one of her father's mistresses--so, she had access to his $$ resources for housing, education, travel, etc., from time to time, but she never reaped the full benefit of good breeding, or his direct supervision/parental authority. Therefore, Nok speaks English, keeps appts, drives a car & dresses like an upper mid-class teenager, but she behaves worse than a low class hooker/freelancer/congirl when it comes to her men/lovers, beginning at the tender age of 17. She does so, b/c she's street smart, not all that classy, having been taught early in life how to scrap around for/manipulate men for money, by her Mommy. She simply hasn't had to concern herself with her public behaviors--she's never been taught to behave any differently--as when she attempted to run a classmate over w/her car, or being seen in Bkk, alone, w/old farang b/c her biological father's family/friends DO NOT know who she is, or what her connection is to him!

Rich kids everywhere can be badly behaved but nowhere more so than in Thailand. Here, many rich kids assume that they are above the law - because it can be bought - and their arrogance is breathtaking.

Privileged Thai kids often do things that their parents would disapprove of. Nok made the mistake of getting caught. At the risk of going over old ground, her reputation was shot to pieces long before she ever met Mark at Don Muang. Walking around with a farang isn't a big deal in any case. My girlfriend does it every day and no one even raises an eyebrow.

Nok's behaviour is entirely consistent with her background and circumstances and I don't agree with your analysis. She's a devious little bitch who is now paying the price for her immaturity and foolishness. It's an integrity issue, not a class issue.

By the by, you were dead on regarding her departure, as well...As of yesterday (after 9 mos in U.S.), Nok has disappeared! Mark arrived home from work to find her/her belongings missing in action, w/no note, ph#--nothing! Can't wait to see how long it takes for her to call him begging for his help in escaping yet another f*cking mess she's gotten herself into...
