Thai non-immigrant visas in 30 minutes

Alan Taylor

Alan Taylor: Hon Consul of Thailand at Hull

Waiting in line and being treated like a criminal suspect seems to be the norm when applying for a Thai visa but one unique consulate puts its customers first.

Visa applications are processed in minutes rather than days and its well-designed website gives you clear and unambiguous instructions about how to fill in the forms - which can be downloaded.

Amazingly, you can even book an appointment to visit the Consul General at a mutually convenient time - just like professional people do in the real world - and, if you need advice, he also answers your emails - in perfect English.

Sceptical readers will probably think that I'm making this up but the pieces all fall into place when you find out that the Consul General of the Royal Thai Consulate at Hull is a farang bloke called Alan Taylor.

Even if you've never visited the UK, the Hull Consulate provides the most authoritative Thai visa advice on the Internet and it's worth visiting their website for this reason alone. Detailed guidance about getting married in Thailand is also provided.

It has to be said that Hull is a bit off the beaten track but to visit the consulate in person is quite unnecessary. The ultra-efficient Khun Alan will process your postal application within 24 hours.

Nick says:

Interesting. So should I, upon visiting the UK (or more specifically Cheltenham) at Xmas, contact this consulate in Hull rather than Birmingham for the acquisition of my visa for coming back to Thailand?

must agree the hull consulate though out of the city and a 40 minute bus drive to kingswood and then a mile walk is well worth it you get spot on sevice all in 10 minutes 10 out of 10

Chris Wharam says:

I can confirm that you articule about the Thai Consulate in Hull is correct. Although I think they have moved office and are longer at Kingswood. I obtained my visa in person and downloaded the necessary forms from the website. The whole process was conducted within 30 minutes.
As a final note does anyone know if you have to return to the UK to renew your non-immigrant visa or can you apply at say Singapore?

ROBERT STANWAY says:

Ian Proud says:

Robert Stainaway,
Your chances of getting a visa for your bg friend are about the same as a snowball's in hell.
Unless of course, you'd like to meet me at the Robin Hood for a Guinness. Perhaps we can work something out. ;-)

Prufrock says:

@Robert Stanway: Do tell, Bob. Is this your first time in Thailand? Where did you actually meet the young lady? And what might be the difference in your ages? And has she ever been married before? And does she have any kids by that marriage? And does she have a job? And can you support her? And what does she plan to do in the UK?

owen mc says:

robert you have no chance of visa and a thai wedding will not make any differance and i have to leave my girl i live with and come back to the uk to work every month i have tried everything. and if ian proud can get her here for you get the beers in. i will buy a guinness anytime.

Looper says:

R. Stornaway,

Sounds like Ian is gonna do us proud and sort your missus out (arf arf)

P.S. I loved 'The Nail in The Bannister'. A real page turner. Keep it up.
