Chinese police don't mess around

During the height of Thailand's ya-ba craze, hardly a week went by without live TV coverage of yet another hostage drama and the cause was always the same. A disturbed drug addict would place someone in danger - usually a child - and then be surrounded by cops. The standoff could sometimes last for hours but, as the guy became tired, officers would instinctively know when to pounce - but it still took considerable bravery on their part.

Sent in by Tanai Kwai, these undated pictures show a Chinese cop dealing with a similar situation. He won't be winning any bravery awards, however. Entitled "Chinese police don't mess around" these photos are a study in brutality. Don't follow the link if you're easily shocked.

Check Six says:

I studied that one. The fall was 5 stories.

For extra effect, they bill the widow for the bullets.

In the US, we're beginning to admire Chinese justice. It's almost as effective as Texas justice (you know, where we execute children, the mentally retarded and the insane), and it's not quite as effective as the world peace we shoot into Iraqi citizens with every bullet, but it's still admirable.

Check Six says:

But this is bloody. Let's go back to discussing the shortcomings of Farang women. And the shortcomings of Thai bargirls.

Dicky says:

Yes more tart, please

KK says:

One bullet wasted on that fucker. Check Six would probably have preferred that he dropped the child first. I believe keeping several hundred people on death row in the US for years and years is much more inhumane.

...and yes let's move the tarts back up on the agenda.

Jay Dee says:

Check Six "peace and love" addicted? OK ! What about Nigel killing Thai bar-girls with its own HIV dick ? No bullet for him available ?

ching_choke says:

Agreed - more pictures of Thai girls, less Chinese brutality.

TANAI KWAI says:

Oh come on, folks. What's sex without a little violence? What's a gorgeous vampiress with full, heaving breasts without a bloody stake through her heart? What's a Marco Poloesque erotic adventure without the atmospheric sense of danger? ...that back-of-your-mind sense that you have journeyed to some place where they shoot first and ask questions later?

Which is more exciting -- Amsterdam or Phnomh Penh? Rio or Reno?

friskodude says:

David, I hope you also cover, later, the follow up to the guy who fell out of the window 5 floors. He was hauled off, presumably dead, to the morgue and put into a casket. Later, somebody at the morgue heard moaning coming from the casket. Turns out he was still alive. No word yet on what happens next to the dude, but in China I don't that's going to be very pleasant.

toby says:

was all of that necessary?
they couldn't put a marksman across the street or something and take this guy out?
the chinese brutality is fine, you definitely have to mix it up with this site.
the guys who just want to talk about sex all of the time are typically the ones who only get laid when ever they go to thailand once or twice a year.

not to get off of the subject, but i'm going to vietnam and cambodia in january with my university.
i'm going to deviate from the itinerary, can somebody suggest any places to visit or things to do.

UncleBob says:

I know they all look the same (kidding, dammit), but isn't this actually two different fellas in the left window?

liveonedge says:

Hell with that guy if he did not get shot they should of gave him a award for a good back flip or just pushed him out the window and just saved the shot's for the next guy that's what we should do in the good old U.S.A

jdman says:

TK, as usual you boil the argument down to the basics...bravo. Danger and sex have always been good bed fellows. Taken to the extreme by Hollywood..sex = death so seek the dangerous partner and cum goooood, but watch your ass! At least that is the premise sold to millions of pubescent 17+ teens in the US after numerous slicer-dicers. If only X rated movies had R rating and R rated blood fest films had X ratings we might figure out a way to bring the 'amerikan' youth back to the straight and narrow ...curiously what I have found also equates to the best sex. :)

Check Six says:

"Check Six would probably have preferred that he dropped the child first. I believe keeping several hundred people on death row in the US for years and years is much more inhumane." (KK)

Actually, I'm not sure how this would be handled any better. They used the guns they had available at the time (pistols) to solve an intractable situation. If they yell "Freeze!" the guy grabs the kid and topples backward in the blink of an eye. If they try a frontal rush in the room, same thing happens. So the cop waits for a point where the guy is distracted and knocks his lights out in such a way as to prevent him from taking any action to pull the kid with him. Pretty harsh, but you threaten the life of a child and you're inviting a world of hurt in any culture.

Now as for executing people the second they're convicted, the US has a terrible track record of convicting the innocent, and so we allow a lot of time to pass, with tons of appeals and the presentation of new evidence, before we execute people. This has led to many cases where convictions have been overturned because the convicted person was innocent!

I know, I know, it ain't the same as good-ole Texan justice.

Slip says:

Confuscious say "Man who sit in window 5 stories up a building with a child risk being shot. Get over it."

Sandy says:

"Good-ole Texan justice" makes me a little squeamish, now that the primary administer of it is in charge of US foreign policy. Guess I liked
it more when he was only running the Lone Star state.

Chinese justice = "treat em mean, keeps em keen." Sure beats expensive modern forensics and the discovery process when your're governing such a huge diverse population.

How about what's his name, that German guy going around with an exhibit of unlayered polymerized cadavers, (some of them executed and sold by the Chinese) for educational puposes. That's another market for them, after removing their kidneys in the back of an ambulence.

Also known as "keeping honest people honest."

Dave says:

You're all wrong. The guy on the right was obviously practising for the olympic high dive event. The three fingers he holds up indicates the number of back summersaults he's going to make on the way down. The guy on the left has a starter pistol.

Unfortunately, it seems he missed the pool, but otherwise it all seems normal enough to me.

Father T says:

Coming from Texas I must say that as a rule I am against the death penalty! There are for to many innocents on death row...that being said though I do think that this policeman acted properly. This man is holding the child hostage and endangering its life. Perhaps there was a warning give. If so and the guy refused to release the kid, then fire away!!!

TANAI KWAI says:

There is a glut of Texans on this site. Father T, Captain A, Tanai K, and who knows how many others. Surely something can be done about the pernicious influence of the Lone Star State on what should be a decent, peace-loving haven for Englishmen, Luxembourgians and other more gentle peoples of the world?

Deep in the heart of Nana)

dark says:

Aww,too bad.

In the US he would be given a hug and therapy for his abusive childhood.
He'd be rule insane and places in an institution where he'd have cookies and milk before bedtime.

He got instead some effective instant therapy delivered with a bullet, the child is safe from this piece of garbage on two legs.

Dark

Nuff says:

"There is a glut of Texans on this site. ----Tanai Kwai,-----"

Figures!

usvirgin says:

I hope Michael Jackson takes note of this.
Then again, maybe not.

Nice to see the voice of reason, Father T, participating in this thread. That he takes the time to discuss the moral issues of the day, when he's not presiding over lovely, drunken, beer soaked, naked go-go dancers making Heineken bottles disappear, shows that you really can mix in a little violence with your sex.

And just when I'd all but lost faith in the clergy, what with the deplorable acts of the kilted Irishman at yesterday's marathon.

Pat Paulsen says:

"(The stars at night,
Are big and bright,
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
Deep in the heart of Nana)"

Geez, you pernicious Texan you!

There's no place like home...no place like home,
especially if it's Kansas (or Texas). Well, Toto doesn't
feel like staying home, or at Nana even, 'cause he
really misses the relative quiet of Soi Cowboy.

Your mom says:

Just one question comes to mind:

How did the chinese cop know that the hostage-taker would not drag the hostage with him when falling?

Or maybe he didn't care since he and his colleagues just wanted to call it a night and go home?

Alota Fagina says:

China trains its police force better than most western countries. I should think that the cop on that scene was one of the city's finest trained professionals.

suzie zuang says:

i took the pics and put them into a moviemaker presentation with some music from kill bill and then placed them onto them onto my site.

it worked wonders for my newws updates..........

singergirl says:

to Sandy,
the 'german guy' with cadavers, has a display in Vancouver,Canada 'Science World' right now called 'Bodies in Motion;Plastination 3' I don't know dollar admission price(off top of my head) but if you become an organ donor (Hospital or plastination?) you get in for free.Every week-end our sky-train is a hoppin' with families on their way to see it!I guess we don't get to see 'bad guys' shot out of the window quite often...
A co-worker attended the show, and said despite the huge crowd, all were quiet while viewing, and whispered with respect, similar to people attending a funeral or tribute/burial site.
I'm gonna take my boy.
