James Belushi gets hooked on virgin pussy

Oliver Stone's classic film Salvador has Boyle (James Woods) drunk at the wheel, selling the country's seedy virtues to Doc (James Belushi). Lets enjoy the scene again - but this time in Thai.

Mr. Dave says:

Is is possible to learn Thai just by listening?

AUA language school claims to accomplish that. They call their program "Automatic Language Growth". The basis for learning is just sitting in their classrooms and listening to Thai speakers - no homework, no memorization, no tests.

Here is the website: http://www.auathai.com/home.html

Is this a good way to learn? Does it really work?

If anyone has any experience with the AUA Thai Language program, I hope you will post comments here.

Hi says:

Hi there,
Yes I have been studying at AUA and think it's dreadful. The most difficult part is staying awake. When someone is talking to you in an alien language for long enough it's very difficult to pay attention for more than 5 or 10 minutes. Half way through most people are falling asleep.

I have asked around and had different responses. Both English teachers I spoke to thought it was rubbish.
There is a great book called Mai Pen Rai (Carol Hollinger, Asia books) She started working there and didn't seem to have anything good to say about it, and that was 30 years ago.

The bottom line is; learning needs to be an interactive thing. They discourage any kind of speaking or practicing.

I have lived in Thailand about 18 month's getting to AUA was not easy. Turning on Thai soap opera on the TV has exactly the same effect.

Don't be fooled by the fact that it's very cheap.

I have heard good things about Bann Phassa Thai. Phloen Chit - BTS Station Right Nr the opticians. Again, from an English teacher. About 7,000B for 30 hours.

As well Somchart Language School http://www.geocities.com/thai_language_school/
This was well recommended on Bangkok Phil's site (an English teacher who has lived in Bangkok more that 12 years) http://www.philipwilliams.freeservers.com/index.html

My experience of AUA was that I thought it was a waste time.

I would advise those thinking of somchart to proceed with caution. The owner ripped me off for 6000 baht by changing the time my 40 hours needed to br completed by. Get it all in writting, better still avoid the place.-peter
