Tanai Kwai shares Bangkok Girlfriend

bangkok girlfriend

With Stickman stitched up, Friskodude locked up and Baron Bonk giving up (due to ill health) the time has come for a new Thailand blogger to step up to the plate.

Spurred on by the critical acclaim that greeted his NotMangoSauce spoof, our very own Tanai Kwai now brings us BangkokGirlfriend.com.

This week, he questions the effectiveness of Thai girls learning English from the subtitles of pirated DVDs - as aptly illustrated by a quote from a knock-off version of Pirates of the Caribbean and its inept transcription:

You will offer what amounts to a full pardon.

You are for what the mom's stewed full tongue.

Back in 2001, I met a Chiang Mai bargirl who was trying to get her 'stewed full tongue' around the English language by memorising a dictionary. Starting at A, six weeks of hard work had got her as far as 'Barometer' so, at that rate, she can expect be fluent by around 2014.

More of Tanai Kwai's linguistic lunacy here:

The Bangkok Noir movement now embraces video. Luk khreung rappers, Thaitanium, provide the soundtrack to four slideshows of paintings by nightlife artist, Chris Coles.

Bangkok Neon features the illuminated signs from various nightlife establishments and you'll probably find yourself muttering "been there... been there... got blown-off there... been there..." etc.

Telemachus says:

David looks like might have some competition from someone inside the Mango camp. Will there be a blog war between you and TK al la Galt or is the trademark nonchalance and professional detachment of Mangosauce the order of the day. I vote blog wars!

Oh, found this piece intersting

TANAI KWAI says:

Just consider visiting the site if things ever get slow here. It's merely a bit of sticky rice to complement the real Mango action.

The dress is casual and all I ask you to bring are low expectations.

Can't thank you enough for the plug, David. Now if you'll just drop the restraining order I think we'll be Even Steven.

Common Sense says:

I've always enjoyed Tanai's posts so its good to see another blog appear that might be worth a look. I'm sure this will be followed by pleas for Dicer to also start his own blog. Unfortunately there may not be enough gigabytes in cyberspace to support this.

moss says:

Well done Tanai Kwai! I believe there are enough mutiple personalities to go round. But, please, leave Dicer here. You can always reincarnate Cog(?)

Sooo, what's next....a Dana blog?

dingdongrb says:

Oh 'Common' you're exaggerating, for 'Dicer' it's not gigabits needed, it's 'terabits'!!

Paul says:

As far as I know, Thaitanium are 100% mid/hi so Thai who chose to make a fortune in New York working in real estate finance while launching their rap career in thailand. I also understand that they now live here permanently....

Road Natzi says:

Hey how bout a Natzi blog????

Ian says:

Never mind all that.

David, get an excuse together for your GF, then head downtown for a ball massage.

It'll be a great read I'm sure. Can't wait to try one.

Grunt says:

I want to read more about David's ongoing struggle with his girlfriend on the subject of anal sex.

Common Sense says:

Did Tanai's site go down. I haven't had the time to check it out in a few days and now all i get is a "this page cannot be displayed" message.

TANAI KWAI says:

Thanks for asking, CS.

My site is down for a bit -- between 20 minutes and 12 hours, depending on the seriousness of the issue.

But since the "Manfred" series has been pronounced "fucking boring," may I suggest you delay checking in for a couple of days until more ribaldry ensues?

Hope to have the technical issues and the quality control on content resolved shortly.

Best,
TK

Common Sense says:

Tanai,
Sorry I haven't been frequenting your site as often as I would like, but glad to see you are still up and running. You've got a knack for writing and have been among my favorite posters for awhile now. Glad to see soemone besides Keith Summers can put out some views on Thailand while David is re-working his MS strategy. I'm sure he will prevail in the end, but your probably the best candidate to carry the torch while he regroups.

Hi Common Sense

I couldn't agree more.

Regards
David

TANAI KWAI says:

CS & David,

Very kind of you both. Just doing my bit to keep the wheels on this thing until the Return of the King, if you will.

Frankly, I don't have time to post as often as I have but I feel a certain sense of obligation during these uncertain times. (Besides, the money's just too good to quit now.)

Still plenty to comment on here, even in David's absence.

ozricdan says:

their own........

but who knows, there are some strange fruit in thailand.

Common Sense says:

What the fuck happened to Tanai Kwai and his site. He hasn't posted here or updated his articles or comments forum for almost 2 weeks. Anyone know?

Wombat says:

I'm as curious as Common Sense. For the most part I enjoyed his site.

Prufrock says:

I emailed him, he usually replies. Nothing in seven days. (Just voicing my concern here along with the rest of you.)

David says:

Hi Prufrock

TK's fine. I exchanged emails with him today. He's just a bit snowed under at work.

Regards
David

Common Sense says:

Snowed under at work? How can that be? I figured the revenue from his 1 google adsense ad would have provided him with the fortunes to quit his dayjob by now.

That's sarcasm above for those FUCKWIT's who don't understand. Kasman?

Common Sense says:

Dicer,
I take back my previous statement on their not being enough gigabytes/terabytes in cyberspace to handle a blog from you. It seems as if technology is finally catching up with your longwindedness.
