Farang Bigfoot roams Thai shoe shops

Farang Bigfoot haunts Thai shoe shops

I never suspected that I was a big-footed freak but, in Thailand, my arrival at any shoe shop causes confusion and laughter. Thailand truly is the land of the little people and you could be forgiven for thinking that shoe shops cater only for children.

Choosing a style is pointless because they won't have it in stock. The only option is to ask if they have any ridiculous clown-boots. After much rummaging, the assistant will return with a dusty pair of pink moccasins - one size too small. Despite having many farang customers, Bangkok department stores are as short on large sizes as the independents.

Shuffling around for months in tatty shoes, I had to wait until my annual trip to London before I could buy a new pair. Back home in Bangkok, I noticed a small label on the sole - Made in Thailand.

Most of my shoes and boots are made in Vietnam.
I'm a size 11, and its impossible to get stylish shoes in size 11. I think I've been to every shopping mall in Bangers. I always bring my boots and shoes from the UK. Try finding a size 11 pair of flip flops in Thailand, no chance your toes spill out in front. Perhaps there is a gap in the market for a shop that sells shoes for the bigger plates. Then have you ever tried Thai condoms on your dick, they just don't fit. You know what they say about big feet.

Scott says:

I had near perfect copies made of my size 11 Kenneth Cole shoes and my comfortable Blunnies in a shop on Soi 1. Took two days and cost a fraction of what I paid for originals. You can also go to any shoe maker shop, pick a pair off the shelf, and get a copy made in your size.

Shoe Shop says:

Scott, that's cobblers!

Singto Muay says:

You can find shoes to fit in MBK, in the new area on the 3rd/4th floor to your right as you walk in from the front. Not badly priced either.

daz says:
